  The group started existing in the mid 60’s when young Brazilians from Senzala gathered, improving the fundamentals through exchange with other capoeristas and intensive trainings. In 1967 the group went to Europe to take part to the “Berimbau De Ouro” capoeira tournament in Paris. The Senzala group conquered the trophy, gaining respect and prominence, keeping it until today, 40 years later. Further, the group de-centralized spreading all around Brazil and the world‘s schools, makes the word “senzala” symbol of high technical level, awareness of historical values of Capoeira, counting today many people.

     Anno 2008 the group is spread widely through Brazil and is represented by lots of schools in the world.
     
     Pica Pau and Ursinho represent the third generation of the group and work to award their students in Europe the first graduations.
